Position: Cost Reduction Engineer
Base Compensation: $55-$75K
Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree, cost-out project management experience, Mechanical and Electrical savvy
Department: Purchasing
Reports to: Purchasing Director
Primary Focus: - Minimize total cost of producing ranges.
Key Responsibilities:
" Coordinate new parts and engineering changes with Purchasing, Engineers, Quality Assurance, product planning and external suppliers.
" Ability to approve new projects through the engineering lab and assure the proper testing is complete to assure the new suppliers / components will be problem free once in production.
" Ability to effectively and tactfully communicate (verbally and in writing) externally to suppliers and sell ideas and strategies internally across multiple levels of the organization including assembly personnel.
" Due to the global nature of the supply base bilingual is a definite plus.
" Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, resolve problems, meet deadlines, and handle fast paced critical work environment.
" Ability to generate ideas that eliminate cost and can be tracked and implemented on time.
Must Have:
* Bachelors of Science in Engineering.
* Minimum 3 years engineering experience, (Appliance experience a plus)
* Strong analytical skills and spreadsheets
* Expertise in supplier processes and cost drivers
* Strong risk assessment skills including total range system interfaces of components.
* Expertise in EHP internal process flow of components and assembly methodology.
* Outstanding leadership skills including leading supplier resources and cross functional teams
* Assessment of supplier capabilities including CPK analysis and FMEA.
